The 3rd International Congress on Science and Nordic Skiing - From science to practice - was held at the Vuokatti Sports Institute located in the North-East of Finland, June 5 - 8, 2015.

The congress was hosted by the Sports Technology Unit of the Department of Biology of Physical Activity, University of Jyväskylä, Finland, together with the Department of Sport Science and Kinesiology, University of Salzburg, Austria.

The congress program offered a comprehensive overview of current research in Nordic skiing. Besides 8 keynote, 7 invited, 30 oral and 10 poster presentations representing overall 18 different countries in the world, inspired interesting discussions of how the research can help the work of the coaches, athletes and sport clubs in practice.

In this Congress Book, selected keynotes, oral and poster presentations focusing on physiology and biomechanics of cross-country skiing, technology, biathlon, ski jumping and Paralympics in cross-country skiing are published. The manuscripts went through a peer review and editorial judgment process prior to acceptance.

On behalf of the organizers we are honored to present this Congress Book with interesting research papers, which we hope will encourage further challenging research in this fascinating field of Nordic skiing.
